Hispanics Dying on the Job at higher Rates than others, was the rather daunting headline of an article written in the USA Today on June 6th 2008 and posted on this website.

The article went on to satet that between 1992- 2006, 11,000 workers had lost their lives.

As a response to statistics such as theseand others I am intersted in any input members may have as to how best to conatct large groups and associations that represent Hispanic workers.

My orginisation has set up an association that offers body repatriation to country of origin, burial expenses and an accidental death benefit of upto $25,000.

I am working at a University on Fort Worth that is conducting a survey about hot flashes in women age 40 to 60. I have gotten all the White and African American participants I need, but I am ripping my hair out trying to get Hispanic women properly represented.

Does anyone have any ideas for me? I would appreciate any suggestions at all.

I am a woman and I am a gun owner who fully supports the 2nd amendment.That being said, there are lots of forums geared to the general public for gun owners and gun enthusiasts being over run by hate groups add that to the all boys network which is generally the atmosphere and you got a trouble. They basic are making other gun owners look bad and making points an case for gun control lobbist.
Even if your not a huge fan of guns you should be even less of a fan of racism.

Is it just me, or is the census bureau bias in the ethnicity questions of there forms. I have a hard time answering the questions of my race when whites and blacks were not born in this country originally. There is a 2 part question in the census booklet asking the same question of race for hispanics when there is 1 question for whites and blacks. By no means am i a racist but this does offend me slightly. I am proud of my race and proud to have been born here. My ancestors where from mexico and spain and i consider my self to be a mexican-american. Most caucasions do not know where there from only that they are white-americans as well as blacks seeing themselves as black-americans.

After reading the article posted here about 'bias and the White Man'I would love to have more input from other members. Pesonally, I believe that bias is unavoidable, the problem is the amount of bias and the reasoning or knowledge behind any bias.

I used to teach at the University (on advertising and journamlism and public opinion) and the bias issue was a big issue among future communicators... there was this idea among students of "objective journalism" where no bias or prejudice will contaminate the news.

Bias = prejudice and prejudice means a judgement made a priori, without us trying or experimenting by ourselves the theory. Well, flash news, without prejudice we as a race wouldn´t have survived. Is prejudice what makes me not to jump from a window from a tall building...In fact I haven´t "experimented" it, ergo I can´t be sure I will not survive and maybe in perfect shape... but my "knowledge" (what I have read, seen, what have been taught to me) makes me "believe" that if I want to live longer, jumping from windows is not a good idea....
