Volunteers are needed for the 2006 tax season! The Tax Counseling Project, a program of the Center for Economic Progress is a nonprofit organization and operates 35 free tax preparation sites for low-income Illinois families & individuals. Last year alone, volunteers prepared over 25,000 returns, bringing back $35 million to our hard-working families and communities, making the Project the nation's largest community-based free tax preparation program for low-income families.
We provide a free 9-hour tax training so no previous tax experience is required. We are especially in need of bilingual, Spanish-speaking volunteers in order to better serve our Latino families.
