Accounts Payable Manager
Job Description
Summary:
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for the supervision and development of a team of 12 Accounts Payable Coordinators and Analysts and all tasks associated with each role. This position offers a fasted-paced and dynamic role that concentrates on team and organizational success.
Qualifications:
Job Experience: 5-7 years accounting experience with 4 years management / supervisory experience. Previous experience in a public service or marketing firm and an understanding of media buying processes preferred.
Education: BA/BS in Accounting or Business or equivalent work experience
Skills:
Thorough working knowledge of all Accounts Payable functions with past experience in a high volume, medium to large-size company
Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and build and maintain relationships throughout the organization
A team player who works effectively in high pressure situations and adaptable to changing requirements
Proactive in problem resolution, partnering with procurement teams throughout our organization to improve invoice processing
Excellent analytical skills with an advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Assist in the resolution of escalated issues
Lead, motivate and develop team members and hire, train new employees
Understand purchasing systems and processes
Establish, review, and enforce quality and controls standards
Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to ensure coverage for all tasks
Knowledge of Lawson Financials a plus but not required

Essential Job Functions:
Manage all tasks within the Accounts Payable function on a daily basis
Ensure that Accounts Payable is current and oversee the accurate and timely processing of employee expenses, vendor invoices and related payments
Serve as the primary liaison in escalated instances between accounts payable, buyers and vendors to resolve or prevent payment issues
Develop and maintain good working relationships with all members of the management and executive teams to ensure they are informed of AP status, projects, and requirements as needed.
Set targets and goals for the AP team to reduce the outstanding company liability
Ensure team members are working to an appropriate capacity, work is reasonably distributed according to individual ability, and team members are motivated
Develop individual performance goals for each team member and a strategy for individual professional development
Develop productivity and key metrics to assess department efficiency and individual performance and produce analytical metrics for management
QC, post payables to GL, manage cash requirements, issue checks, and ensure the timely and efficient close of Accounts Payable at month-end
Ensure the AP team abides by internal processing controls and SOX compliance.
Review and develop process improvements/efficiencies and document policies and procedures to create and uphold internal controls
Develop and maintain good working relationship with Client Finance ensuring they have all information necessary to complete monthly billing in a timely manner
Work with key buyers regularly to ensure they are trained on AP procedures and requirements and on the use of the eProcurement systems
Analyze and test internal AP financial and procurement systems for system upgrades / integrations as required.
Manage and oversee the UK Accounts Payable processes
Manage the Travel & Expense system (Concur) and the processes for expense report submission and payment
Interview and hire new team members as required
