Compliance Officer/ Investigation & Inspection

Job Description

Evaluate, investigate and certify contractors and subcontractors to qualify them to bid on public building construction projects undertaken by state agencies, authorities, municipalities and other public entities across the Commonwealth by examining and analyzing Applications for Certificates of Eligibility, financial statements, bonding capabilities, project performance, construction supervisory personnel experience, and legal/administrative proceedings involving the contractor. Apply laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines in making contractor and subcontractor certification decisions.

Interpret reports and information provided by regulatory authorities, insurers, and other industry groups in determining certification decisions. Generate reports in MS Access. Conduct telephone interviews of contractors' performance on construction contracts on a daily basis. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory, law enforcement or regulatory administration work, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: A Bachelor's or higher degree may be substituted for the required experience.* *Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
