About Transportation Security Administration
The Transportation Security Administration is responsible for protecting all models of transportation in the United States including civil aviation, maritime and transportation facilities. TSA is the lead agency for security at airports, the nation's railroads, highways and public transportation systems. TSA is responsible for federal security screening operations for passengers air transportation and intelligence information related to air transportation security; managing and carrying out regulatory activities; discovering and stopping threats to transportation security; coordinating intermodal transportation security including aviation, rail and other surface and maritime transporatation; and overseeing most transportation-related responsibilities of the federal government during a national emergency.
