Small-business Startup Workshops Increase Chances for Success
Bilingual business startup workshops by the San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in California provide guidance to new Hispanic entrepreneurs.
With the growing number of Latino-owned businesses nationwide, the chamber sought to increase local Latino entrepreneurs' chances for success with education.
In San Joaquin County, more than 13 percent of businesses were owned by Latinos in 2002, and more than 14 percent of California's firms were Latino-owned, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau figures available.
Latino-owned firms in the United States are expected to grow by 90.9 percent by 2012, bringing the total number of Latino firms to 3 million, according to a report by Hispanic Magazine.
Business startup workshops of course will not guarantee success, but they are a good place to start.
