Dichos - Spanish sayings

It seems that we all treasure from our Hispanic Heritage our parents or grandparents sayings (dichos). So we are starting a small collaborative "book" where we all can enter some of the Spanish dichos we remember the most.

You are invited to post the ones you remember, please add a small translation to English and explanation of uses.

Example: Page title: "A caballo regalado no se le mira el colmillo"

Translation: If the horse is for free you don't look into his teeth.
Looking into a horse mouth to see his teeth was a way of knowing the age and value of a horse, so this saying implicates that you can't be picky when something has been given to you for free.

Thanks!
